Kannawidan Ilocano Festival
Kannawidan has a long history in Ilocos Sur. Kannawidan comes from the Ilocano word "tawid," which means "heritage" or "inheritance." Kannawidan got its start in 1992, when Guia Monroy Valenciano, then the vice-president of PCI Bank, started talking to acquaintances about starting a museum. The first night began with a dancing fountain show, followed by a drone light show and a spectacular fireworks display from the top of the New Legislative Building. As a tribute to all frontliners, the drone light show showed the strong character of Ilocosurians to not give up in the face of the pandemic. Following that, the Quirino Stadium hosted a comedy night. The Saniata Ti Ylocos beauty pageant was crowned on Kannawidan's second day. The Chef Wars Cooking Competition, which took place on the same day, was an exhibition of inventiveness and expertise for foodies. The festival was capped off on the third day with the LGBTQ Night, which featured a Your Face Sounds Familiar, The Lip Sync Battle. Aside from competitions, the Kannawidan Festival featured a variety of other activities. On the third day of the event, dog enthusiasts were treated to a dog show showcasing American bulldogs. Meanwhile, automobile and motorcycle aficionados may marvel at these marvels during the February 5 car and motor expo. Tinattoan, Bike Race, Game Fowl, Rhythm Fest, and the much-anticipated Bakbakan sa Ilocos Sur were among the other notable events.
