    Kannawidan has a long history in Ilocos Sur. Kannawidan comes from the Ilocano word "tawid," which means "heritage" or "inheritance." Kannawidan got its start in 1992, when Guia Monroy Valenciano, then the vice-president of PCI Bank, started talking to acquaintances about starting a museum. The first night began with a dancing fountain show, followed by a drone light show and a spectacular fireworks display from the top of the New Legislative Building. As a tribute to all frontliners, the drone light show showed the strong character of Ilocosurians to not give up in the face of the pandemic. Following that, the Quirino Stadium hosted a comedy night. The Saniata Ti Ylocos beauty pageant was crowned on Kannawidan's second day.
